Anonymous Instagram Story Viewer
Type a public @username and watch its stories without an Instagram account. StoriesMask fetches the profile for you, so your name never lands in a viewer list and nobody gets a notification. Highlights, posts and reels come along for free.
One username, four tabs, zero footprints
Most story viewers stop at the stories. StoriesMask opens the whole public profile and lays it out the way you already know it, minus the part where Instagram tells on you.
Stories
Every story that is live right now, with a countdown to the moment it disappears. Play them as a slideshow or save them one by one.
Open the viewerHighlights
The stories an account chose to keep, grouped under their covers and stamped with the day each one was first posted.
Open the viewerPosts
The feed with likes, comments and captions, and a Show more button where instagram.com would ask you to sign in.
Open the viewerReels
The Reels tab Instagram hides from logged-out visitors, with play counts, sound and an MP4 download on each one.
Open the viewerWhy nobody can see you
There is no trick and no setting. Instagram can only record a story view when a signed-in account opens the story, and StoriesMask never uses one.
No account of yours
You never sign in, and we never ask for a password. Our server requests the public profile and hands the result to your browser. There is no identity on your side for a view to attach to.
No notification, no viewer list
Because no Instagram account opened the story, there is nothing to list and nobody to notify. The owner sees the same viewer list they would have seen if you had never visited.
No record on our side
We do not keep the usernames you type or the media you watch. Your watchlist and recent searches live in your own browser and nowhere else.
How to use the anonymous story viewer
Three steps, about ten seconds, on any device.
Copy the username
Grab the public @username from the Instagram app or from the address bar on instagram.com. Pasting a profile address or a story address works just as well.
Paste it into StoriesMask
Press View stories. The profile opens with its live stories, highlights, posts and reels, loaded by our server rather than by you.
Watch, play or save
Tap a story to play it full-screen, switch tabs, or press Download for the original file. The owner is never told.
Built for looking, not just peeking
Each tab does what the app does, then adds what the app refuses to give you.
Stories with a countdown
Live stories appear as cards with the hours and minutes left before they expire. Tap one and the player takes over: progress bars at the top, tap left or right to move, videos with sound.
The accounts tagged in a story are listed behind the @ badge, and each of them opens with one tap, still anonymously.
- Slideshow with progress bars
- Time left on every card
- Tagged accounts listed
Highlights with their real dates
Highlights are the stories an account kept after the 24 hours ran out. Pick a cover and the stories inside load in order, each stamped with the day it was first posted, even if that was years ago.
Instagram records highlight views the same way it records story views. Here, it records nothing.
- Every highlight on the profile
- Original posting dates
- Download any story inside
Posts with the numbers attached
The Posts tab shows the newest public posts with their like count, comment count and full caption. Open one and the viewer shows the media on the left and the text on the right; carousels have arrows and a download on every slide.
Show more keeps going where instagram.com would stop you with a login prompt.
- Likes, comments and captions
- Carousels slide by slide
- No login wall
Reels with play counts
Logged-out visitors never see a Reels tab on instagram.com. StoriesMask lists every public reel with the number of times it was played, plays it inline with its original audio and saves it as an MP4.
It is the quickest way to tell which reels actually worked for an account.
- View counts on every reel
- Plays with sound
- MP4 download, no watermark
When looking quietly is simply the polite option
Most quiet looks are perfectly ordinary. Here is who shows up at StoriesMask and why.
Before you reply
Someone messaged you and you want to know what they have been up to, without a story view answering for you.
Checking on a brand
See how a shop, a competitor or a client uses stories and reels without showing up in their insights.
Keeping up with a creator
Follow a public figure's stories without an account, and save the ones worth keeping before they expire.
An account that blocked you
If the profile is public, its posts are public. StoriesMask shows them without using any account of yours.
A story about to vanish
A friend posted your evening together. The countdown shows how long you have to save it in full quality.
No Instagram account at all
You left, or never joined, but people keep sending you profiles and story links. Open them here instead.
The app, a typical viewer, and StoriesMask
Same public profile, three very different experiences.
| What happens | Instagram app | Typical story viewer | StoriesMask |
|---|---|---|---|
| You appear in the viewer list | Yes | No | No |
| Login required | Yes | No | No |
| Live stories | Yes | Yes | Yes, with time left |
| Highlights with dates | No dates | Sometimes | Yes |
| Posts with likes and comments | Logged in only | No | Yes |
| Reels with play counts | Logged in only | No | Yes |
| Original-quality downloads | No | Stories only | Stories, posts, reels, picture |
| Tagged accounts listed | Only if you spot them | No | Yes |
Original files, not screenshots
Every story, post, reel and profile picture has a download button. What you get is the file Instagram serves, unchanged.
Story photos as JPG at the resolution Instagram stores, usually 1080 × 1920.
Story videos and reels as MP4 with the original audio, including music added in the app.
Posts and carousels one slide at a time, each with its own download.
Profile pictures at full size instead of the small cropped circle.
No watermark and no recompression on anything.
Save all grabs every live story of a profile in one go.
What StoriesMask does, and what it never does
StoriesMask is safe because it asks for nothing. You never log in, never type a password and never install anything, so there is nothing of yours to expose. We keep no history of the profiles you open.
It is legal because it shows only what an account has already made public, the same content any visitor can see on instagram.com. Private profiles stay private. Keep downloads for personal use and respect the people who made them.
- No login, ever
- No search history kept
- Public profiles only
- Free, no account needed
StoriesMask never
- Asks for your Instagram password
- Posts, follows or messages as you
- Stores the usernames you search
- Opens private accounts

The questions that bring people here
Short answers to the searches that end on this page.
How do I view someone's Instagram story without them knowing?
Type their public username into StoriesMask and press View stories. No Instagram account is used, so your name never reaches their viewer list and no notification goes out.
Is there an Instagram story viewer that needs no login?
Yes, this one. StoriesMask runs entirely in your browser without an Instagram account. You can use it even if you deleted Instagram or never joined.
Can I watch Instagram stories anonymously on my phone?
Yes. Open storiesmask.com in Safari or Chrome, type the username and tap a story. The full-screen player works like the app, without the viewer record.
Can I save an Instagram story without the poster finding out?
Search the username, then press the download button on a story card or Save all for every live story. Photos arrive as JPG and videos as MP4 with sound. See the story downloader.
Can I see someone's Instagram highlights without them knowing?
Yes. Open the profile and switch to the Highlights tab. Every highlight loads with its stories and original dates. See the highlights viewer.
Can I see posts and likes without following an account?
If the account is public, yes. The post viewer shows every post with likes, comments, caption and date, and Show more keeps scrolling.
Is there a way to watch reels without signing in?
Open the profile on StoriesMask and tap Reels. Every public reel appears with its play count and plays with sound. See the reels viewer.
How can I see who is tagged in a story?
Look for the @ badge on a story card. StoriesMask lists every tagged account, and each one opens with a tap.
How long does an Instagram story stay up?
Exactly one day from the moment it goes up. StoriesMask prints the remaining hours and minutes on every live card, so you know how long you have to save it.
Do downloaded stories keep the music?
Yes. Videos and reels save as MP4 with the original audio track, including sounds added inside Instagram.
Can StoriesMask show who viewed my story?
No, and neither can anyone else. Only Instagram can show story viewers, inside the app under your own story. Profile visitors are not recorded by Instagram at all.
Is there a limit on how many profiles I can open?
No cap of any kind. Check as many profiles as you like, as often as you like, and pin the regulars to your watchlist for one-tap access.
Frequently asked questions
What is StoriesMask?
A free website that opens any public Instagram profile for you, stories included, without an Instagram account on your side. You see the live stories with their countdown, the highlights with their dates, the posts with their numbers and the reels with their play counts.
Is it really anonymous?
Yes. A story view exists only when a logged-in account loads the story. StoriesMask has no accounts, so the view is never created. The owner's list looks exactly as it did before you arrived.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No. StoriesMask works without any Instagram account. It is the same whether you deleted yours, never had one, or simply do not want to use it.
Does it open private profiles?
No, and nothing honest does. A private profile is served only to the followers its owner approved. StoriesMask recognises a private account, says so, and stops.
Does the account owner get told?
No. Your name is never added to a viewer list, no notification is sent, and Instagram does not record profile visits for anyone.
Is StoriesMask free?
Yes, completely. No premium plan, no credits, no daily cap. The site is supported by ordinary display advertising.
Which files can I save?
Any story, highlight story, post, reel or profile picture. Photos come down as JPG and videos as MP4 with their audio, at the size Instagram serves, with nothing stamped on them.
Does it show posts and reels as well as stories?
Yes. The result page has four tabs. Posts carry likes, comment counts, captions and dates; reels carry their play counts. Every item opens full-screen and every item has a download button.
Can StoriesMask tell me who looked at my story?
Only inside the Instagram app, under your story. No outside tool can list your story viewers or profile visitors, and any site that claims to is not being honest.
Is an anonymous story viewer legal to use?
Looking at content its owner published to the whole internet is legal; it is the same material a logged-out visitor sees on instagram.com. Keep downloads for yourself and do not pass someone's work off as your own.
What do you keep about me?
No. We keep no history of searched usernames or viewed media. Your watchlist and recent lookups exist only in your browser. Our privacy policy lists the little we process to run the site, such as short-lived server logs.
Is there a watermark on downloads?
No. Files are saved exactly as posted, with nothing added and no quality lost.
How is this different from the Instagram app?
The app logs every story you open against your account and hands that list to the owner. StoriesMask shows the same public content with no account involved, so there is no log, and it adds the things the app withholds: downloads, an expiry countdown, the full-size profile picture, tagged-account lists and a watchlist.
Which devices does it run on?
Any phone, tablet or computer with a browser. Safari and Chrome on iPhone, any browser on Android, and all desktop browsers. Nothing is installed.
A profile loads but shows no stories. Why?
Either nothing is live right now (stories vanish after a day), the account is private, or the handle has a typo. A story posted seconds ago can also take a minute to surface; try again shortly.
How fresh is what I see?
It is read from Instagram at the moment you press the button, not from a cache. Press it again for a fresh read. When a story hits the 24-hour mark it leaves Instagram and StoriesMask at the same time.
